This course will focus on raising edible food crops in the urban landscape. The topics include cold and warm-season vegetables, fruit, nut and citrus trees, perennial food crops, berries, herbs, water management and rainwater collection. Emphasis will be placed on HOA-friendly growing on small lots.
The study of safety and sanitation practices including universal precautions. The importance of proper body mechanics, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, maintaining the massage environment, and the advantage of therapeutic relationships is also included. This special populations course is designed to provide an overview of the special education process while focusing on various types of learners with special needs, including children with disabilities, gifted learners, and children at risk such as homeless and migrant children. Topics include: legal requirements and laws, topics on public laws relating to individuals with disabilities, categories of exceptionality, identification and intervention, collaboration, identification and assessment of children, inclusion, and planning, delivering, and documenting educational services. The readings and activities are chosen with the intent to prepare you both for the Special Education Supplemental TExES Exam as well as your first year as a special education and/or classroom educator.
This course combines a two-day, live workshop, along with online activities designed to train pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in basic,
non-sterile, extemporaneous compounding procedures. Hands-on training includes: capsule preparation, ointments, creams, trochees,
suppositories, use of mortar and pestle, digital scale, graduated cylinders, hotplate, ointment mill, and other compounding equipment. The total estimated time required to complete this course is 48 hours (live workshop combined with home-study); may be spread out over a period of from
2-weeks up to one-semester, depending on course section. CPE activity completers will receive a frame-able certificate of completion , and upload of ACPE credit of 4.8 CEUs (48.0 hours) into CPE monitor. This is a Practice-Based activity. This is a non-sterile compounding certification course. Prerequisites: Must be a certified (PTCB) Pharmacy Technician; or registered Pharmacist/ registered pharmacy technician; or have completed an ASHP/ACPE Accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program; or have a minimum of six month of pharmacy experience. This course may be converted to college credit. Integrated with credit PHRA-2271.
Skills development for professional personnel practicing in critical care units, emergency departments, and paramedic ambulances. Establishes a system of protocols for management of the patient experiencing cardiac difficulties. Meets the American Heart Association requirements for ACLS provider course. Participants who successfully complete the course receive an AHA ACLS Provider card. Course materials will be mailed to registered participants a minimum of one week prior to course. Registration deadline is one week prior to the first class day. Lunch is not provided. Approved for 16 nursing and TDH-P contact hours. Prerequisite: Knowledge and skills associated with basic CPR. This course is designed specifically for adults 18+ with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Students develop entry-level and intermediate skills for the workforce. Includes professionalism, interpersonal skills, communication, workplace civility, and employability skills. Application, assessment and interview required prior to admittance.
