This course prepares students for the American Society for Quality (ASQ) "Six Sigma Black Belt" certification exam. The course is a refresher study of the ASQ Certified Six Sigma Black Belt Body of Knowledge. Topics include enterprise-wide deployment, business process management, project management, Six Sigma improvement methodology and tools (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control phases), lean enterprise principles, and Design for Six Sigma. The student will focus on the theory and application of these topics by studying the course materials and taking and reviewing sample exams containing questions similar to those on the actual CSSBB exam. Note that this course does not include the ASQ certification exam. This course combines a two-day live workshop, along with pre-course reading, and significant online/distance learning (DIL) coursework, and a
proctored, written examination, to train pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in USP<800> regulations and chemotherapy sterile compounding procedures. All course activities are designed to be completed within a 12-week semester. The two-day, hands-on workshop is held in our state- of-the-art training facility in Austin, Texas. All other coursework is completed online using our Blackboard Learning Management System. Hands-on training includes: chemotherapy calculations, chemo LVP, and SVP prep, etc. as well as use of biological safety cabinet, barrier isolator, and other chemotherapy compounding equipment. The total estimated time required to complete this course is 64 hours (live workshop combined with home-study); may be spread out over a period of from 2-weeks up to one-semester, depending on course section. CPE activity completers will receive a frame-able certificate of completion and upload of ACPE credit of 6.4 CEUs (64 hours) into CPE monitor. This is a Practice-Based activity. This is a Chemotherapy Certification Course. Prerequisites: Certified (PTCB) pharmacy technician and/or registered pharmacy technician (technicians practicing in states that do not require certification or registration will be considered on a case-by-case basis); or registered pharmacist or pharmacy intern with ≥ 1 year of pharmacy experience and ≥ 6 months of direct sterile compounding experience. Completion of ASHP/ACPE accredited or ACPE accredited IV certificate comprised of ≥ 40 hours (4.0 CEUs) for technicians or ≥ 20 hours (2.0 CEUs) for pharmacists, of which ≥ 50% of coursework was comprised of direct sterile compounding experience. Preferred: Completion of ACC’s Sterile Compounding and Aseptic Technique (SCAT) course PHRA 1091; ≥ two years of pharmacy experience and ≥ 1 year of direct sterile compounding experience. A continuation of Ready-To-Wear Construction with emphasis on design details. Instruction in basic manipulation of a commercial pattern to create individual design details, dressmaking and fully lined unstructured garments in intermediate level fabrics. Combined with credit FSHD-1351.
This course focuses on ISTE standards for teachers and students as well as the Texas standards for teachers. Candidates will explore various programs which can be incorporated into their classroom instruction and management and utilized for assessment. Candidates will develop their own classroom website, create blogs, and design lessons which incorporate technology.
Fundamentals of mass production of apparel, focusing on the operation of industrial sewing and pressing equipment. Survey of materials selection and construction techniques used at all price levels of mass-produced apparel. Introduction to industry seam allowances. Discover how to design and manage change more effectively, gain an awareness of principles used to address people’s readiness and capability for change, and learn how to prepare people for change.
This course introduces two important accents used for stage, film, television, and video games. In the Fall the offering is American Southern and Australian. Through Knight-Thompson Speechwork, a new standard-bearing approach to speech, students will acquire the skills to convincingly perform these accents. Areas of focus include developing the oral posture, learning how to create the unique pronunciations, and analyzing the “music” (rhythm, tempo, and intonation) of the accent. Studies include native speakers of these accents, and dialogue from stage and screen scripts will be utilized to apply the work. This course is for actors with and without speech training and for people who simply would enjoy learning two interesting accents.
